Hmmm.
This week we had a guest speaker and one of the things that she talked about that stuck out to me was 7% of a conversation is the actual words we use. I think that is so true when I think about when I talk to my brother he always gives me attitude when I ask him to do something for me. I always try to be polite about it and say please and thank you but maybe its the tone of my voice or my body language.

5 stages
This week we learned about the listening process and the five stages. 1 Receiving, 2 Understanding, 3 Remembering, 4 Evaluating and the last stage is 5 Responding. I think the one that I am the best at is number 3 Remembering when people tell me stories I tend to remember what it was about when they bring it up the next time I see them.

What way are you going to look at life ?
My favorite quote is from Elliot Ewritt " Photography is the art of observation. It has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them." In class this week we learned about Perception and the different ways you can the world. From what I understand is that you can look at life as everyday is a good day and be positive and happy of you can go through life with a negative outlook.

Enculturation and acculturation
This chapter we learned about enculturation and acculturation. Enculturation which is the process by which you learn the culture into which you're born. Acculturation is the process in which you learn the rules and norms of the culture different from your native culture. My enculturation would be: hard working and family orientated. My acculturation would be the grammar rules of speaking Spanish I know very little Spanish so if I were to try to learn it I would have to learn the different rules about it.
You're Welcome...
During the week I give my brothers friends a ride home or to school. I don't mind doing it as long as they say "Thanks Sam" but one of his friends never says it. It should not be that big of deal but for some reason it drives me nuts! I just want to say " you're welcome" but I don't. I know not everyone was raised to say please and thank you but If I do something for someone the least I want in return is a thank you. That's why being polite is a big deal these days. So next time someone does something for you say THANK YOU !

The Noise I miss
The four different types of noise are: physical, physiological, psychological and semantic. The one that affects my life the most is physiological noise because I have a hearing problem. It affects me because when my parents says something and I don't catch what they say right away they get mad when I say what.
